The “laboratory driving licence“ – have you heard of it?
On Thursday, November 21st, we offered a group of 16 students aged 14 to 16 in Schwabach a practical insight into the world of laboratory technology. The visit took place as part of “ZUKUNFT gestalten! Laborführerschein” (Shaping the FUTURE! Laboratory driving license) – the program of the Neues Deutsches Museum, which supports young people in their career orientation. Welcomed by our trainees Jasmin and Alessio, the students were able to explore various departments of the company during a three-hour tour. The stops included production, development and application technology, with both discussions and practical sessions on the program. The aim was to provide authentic insights into everyday working life and the diverse career opportunities at Heidolph. As a memento of the eventful day, the students were given Heidolph-branded items to take home. We also presented Dr. Ronald Göbel, head of the program, with a peristaltic pump from the Hei-FLOW series, which will be used in the permanent exhibition “Body & Mind” of the museum in the future.

The “laboratory driving licence” program is an educational spiral that combines workshops in the museum with visits to real training companies. The aim is to get young people - especially those with educational disadvantages - interested in scientific and technical professions and open up prospects for their professional future. The students will crown their participation in the program with a graduation ceremony on December 10th at the Museum of the Future, where they will receive their laboratory driving license. With this commitment, Heidolph is underlining its role as a leading company in the region and an attractive employer.
