Staining processes are essential in the life sciences to make cells, tissue and microorganisms visible under the microscope and to highlight specific structures. Depending on the application, there are different staining techniques based on chemical or physical principles. At the Paracelsius University Erlangen (Germany), antibody staining - immunolabeling of kerosene sections on microscope slides - was previously difficult to perform because the laboratory equipment available on the market did not meet their requirements - or rather the requirements of their samples. The aim was to prevent the kerosene sections from being washed off the slide. The liquid should remain in slight motion so that all sections are evenly moistened by the antibody suspension and thus reached by the antibodies. However, this was not possible with orbital shakers, which have a minimum speed of 15-30 rpm.
