The Life Science sector is the most common area of application of our shakers. They are used both for media and sample preparation (e.g. orbital shakers for LB media or vortexers during the DNA/RNA extraction), for coloring blots and for the production of microbiological organisms and eukaryotic cell cultures.
Vortexing & Shaking
Life Science
Chemistry
In chemistry, shakers are used among others for the media and sample preparation (e.g. salt solutions, color mixtures or soil sample preparation for measuring the pH or the heavy metal content) and for chemical reactions that do not need a heating (e.g. photochemistry).
Pharmaceutical industry
Pharmaceutical companies use shakers in quality control for preparing buffer solutions or samples that serve analytical purposes.

Hei-SHAKE
Series 2018
The lab shakers of the Hei-SHAKE Series support you and master nearly any shaking and mixing task not only reliable, but also efficiently. With the help of a wide range of attachments and extensions, each shaker is configurable for your individual application right up to temperate shaking with our optional incubator system.

Vortexer
Vortexers are indispensable devices in the laboratory providing fast results through their very intuitive handling and their performance and thus convincing overall. They are used for different applications e.g. the dissolution of solids or of cell pellets in a medium or the mixing of samples in test tubes. Heidolph offers three different Vortexer models being able to process a wider range of samples more efficiently by means of additional accessories.

Orbital shakers
Orbital shaking is a fundamental laboratory technique used for mixing solutions, cultivating cells, and conducting various experiments. It is the most sought-after movement pattern among platform shakers. Orbital platform shakers are compatible with standard laboratory vessels and are designed for daily lab use due to their robust construction and intuitive operation.
Hei-SHAKE Reciprocating
Reciprocal shaker | Platform shaker
The reciprocating movement is a vigorous horizontal shaking movement and is therefore suitable for various extraction applications, such as Babcock analysis or the determination of pesticide residues in different media. Particularly where an increased number of samples have to be handled during a liquid-liquid extraction, use of suitable holding clamps for separatory funnels can facilitate the workflow.
Hei-SHAKE Rock
Rocking platform shaker | Platform shaker
The particularly gentle movement of 2D rocking platform shakers is used, among other things, for staining membranes after blotting processes. In addition, this movement pattern is frequently used to prevent coagulation in blood samples or when samples have to be gently rinsed with media.
Hei-SHAKE Wave
3D shaker | Platform shaker
The particularly gentle movement of a 3D platform wave shaker is used, among other things, for staining membranes after blotting processes. The sensitive membranes are gently flushed during the incubation times and the bands are stained successfully.
Hei-SHAKE
Vibration shaker | Platform shaker
Vibration shakers are the big brothers of the vortexers and are particularly suitable for parallel processing of samples, e.g. in multi-well plates. Thanks to the high-frequency vibration, uniform mixing of multiple samples is achieved effectively and needs less manual handling. A noticeable increase in efficiency and less stress for people and samples.

Overhead shakers
Overhead shakers are compact devices that are suitable especially for challenging applications. Large models such as our Reax 20 are equipped with a separate emergency switch ensuring safety even during heavy loads of up to 30 kg. This allows the user to mix color and varnish samples safely, to prepare soil samples or to dissolve poorly soluble salts. The smaller Reax 2 is often used in molecular biology or biochemistry to extract different products from cells or tissues.
